Free enterprise is doubly delicious

Is the McDonald’s McDouble “the cheapest, most nutritious, and bountiful food that has ever existed in human history”? Jayson Lusk won’t go that far, but earlier this month on “Fox and Friends” Dr. Lusk did have some words of praise for that beloved salt-and-pepper-seasoned double-cheeseburger topped with onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard — and for the system that produces it. We urge you to check out this video clip featuring Dr. Lusk, the Samuel Roberts Noble Distinguished Fellow at OCPA, whose new book is The Food Police: A Well-Fed Manifesto About the Politics of Your Plate.
As Jeffrey A. Tucker once wrote for the Mises Institute, fast-food proprietors “might be the greatest humanitarians in history or they might be the greediest and most selfish people on earth. It really doesn't matter. … McDonald’s is a prime example of how the market has overcome a fundamental human problem: getting enough to eat. This is a problem that vexed the whole of humanity from the beginning of time. Now it appears to be almost entirely solved.”
