OCPA praises Attorney General for fighting federal overreach

OKLAHOMA CITY (February 10, 2023)—Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs President Jonathan Small today praised Attorney General Gentner Drummond for threatening to sue the Biden administration if it does not withdraw a dangerous rule by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFW) that designates the lesser prairie chicken as a threatened species.

“Oklahoma officials have successfully worked to preserve the prairie chicken in ways that do not prioritize the birds over people,” Small said. “The Biden administration’s proposed, dangerous rule will do little to improve conservation efforts, but much to harm Oklahomans. Attorney General Drummond deserves praise for jumping into the fray on this issue and fighting this latest scheme of federal overreach.”

The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs is a free-market think tank that works to advance principles and policies that support free enterprise, limited government, individual initiative and personal responsibility.
