The Leavitt report is still Obamacare
The consulting firm Leavitt Partners recently released a report which recommended that Oklahoma seek “enhanced federal funding” from the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion. But as OCPA fiscal policy director Jonathan Small recently reminded the readers of The Oklahoman, the Leavitt report is still Obamacare.
To their credit, the special interests that stand to profit from the Obamacare Medicaid expansion are now acknowledging that the Leavitt report is in fact Obamacare. But they’re for it nonetheless, believing it to be the “smartest approach” for Oklahoma. Oklahoma’s voters disagree—and Oklahoma’s Republican voters disagree overwhelmingly.
As Mr. Small says, “It's time to fix Medicaid, not expand it, and make it work better for patients, giving them a pathway off the welfare program altogether.” We encourage you to read his entire column here.
