Fifty years ago the state of Oklahoma began collecting money for union dues from the paychecks of public school teachers. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been collected free of charge, to benefit the union activity and political agenda of both the Oklahoma Education Association (OEA) and the Washington, D.C.-based National Education Association. As a matter of principle, politics do not belong in the paychecks of teachers.

Every child in America should have the same educational opportunity as do President Obama’s children. They enjoy school choice.

The campaign season is in full force. No doubt we have all heard candidates from both parties tout that they will do something to bring, create, grow or support jobs. There’s a reason: Candidates know that most people, especially Oklahomans, understand the importance of hard work and how a job can provide the pathway to meeting one’s needs, wants and even dreams.
